Rob Jones

"I was not guilty of any dishonesty and had no intention to fix a match and no intention to do anything corrupt." This is what John Higgins had to say in his defence of the allegations that he was guilty of match fixing snooker. John did agree that he brought the game into disrepute by not reporting the the illegal offer made to him to fix snooker frames. John Higgins is my favourite snooker player and i can't imagine him being guilty, this may sound bias i know but he is such a genuine guy and has too much love and respect for the game. This he has said many times in his career.

People may ask, why did he still get fined £75,000 if he was innocent, well the charges of intentionally engaging in corrupt and fraudelent behaviour were dropped so what does that tell you? He was fined for the fact that he didn't report it. Yes this is controversial but in my eyes he remains innocent.

I was pleased with his amazing victory over Mark Williams at the 2010 UK championship final last december. After returning from his six month ban from the game Higgins was on great form and turned the match around.  6 time world champion Steve Davis praised John's determination, "You've seen a performance by the greatest player this game has seen. Higgins has everything - so much heart as well as bundles of talent and tactical nous."

Im glad to see he's on form as he could have easily shattered due to his suspension. I hope he continues to capture more ranking titles and will be looking forward to the 2011 World Snooker Championship. Can John win his forth world title this year? im sure he can!
